Graduate Students

Graduate Student
Katelyn Haly is a grad student (2023–2029) from the Bay Area. She studies team flow, supernormalization, contact hypothesis, and rational inattention through a blend of social neuroscience and behavioral economics. In her free time, she likes to read, doomscroll, and test her human capacity for caffeine intake.
Graduate Student
Thomas Henning is a Ph.D. candidate in Neuroeconomics at the California Institute of Technology. His research focuses on applying cognitive neuroscience to understand better decision-making in human–AI systems and economic markets. By integrating data from fMRI, electrodermal activity, heart-rate variability, and eye tracking, he investigates the neural mechanisms of trust, attention, and risk-taking, and how these processes can inform the design of more transparent and aligned AI tools.
Graduate Student
Sean is a graduate student in the Social Sciences. He holds a B.A. in Economics from National Taiwan University and previously worked as a pre-doc in the Camerer Group. His research focuses on cognitive limitations—their causes and consequences. He explores topics such as behavioral game theory, autistic disorders, and habit formation. Outside of academia, Sean enjoys playing baseball. (Fact: he is a two-time champion in the Caltech Summer League.)
Graduate Student
Zhenlin is a graduate student in the Social Science program, expected to complete her Ph.D. in 2026. Her research focuses on experimental economics, with a particular interest in information economics and belief updating. Outside of research, she enjoys visiting museums, painting, and bouldering.

Research Staff

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Matthew Casertano is an undergraduate student from Maryland pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Economics and graduating in 2026. Within the group, his work focuses on habit formation, visual attention patterns, and AI behavior in economic markets. Outside of academia, Matthew enjoys hiking and biking and is always looking for new trails to explore.
Research Assistant
Cady is a Chen Pre-doctoral Researcher and a former Visiting Undergraduate Research Fellow at Caltech. She holds dual BAs in Economics and in Mathematics and Statistics from Grinnell College. Her research interests lie broadly in behavioral game theory, experimental economics, and neuroeconomics, with a focus on modeling decision-making in high-risk, uncertain environments. Outside of academia, you’ll find her playing Mario Kart, practicing piano, and folding origami out of gum wrappers.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Sidd Ojha is an undergraduate student studying Applied and Computational Mathematics + Economics from the Chicagoland area. Within the group, his work has primarily focused on rational inattention and AI behavioral science. Outside of the lab, he is a member of the NCAA Swim & Dive team on campus, an avid classic car enthusiast, and loves exploring good food in the LA area.

Visiting Student Researcher

Visiting Student Researcher
Jiatong is a Ph.D. student at the School of Management, Zhejiang University, and a visiting student for two years in the Camerer Lab. He is expected to complete his doctorate in 2026. His research interests include peer effects, social networks, and decision making. Outside of academia, he enjoys bouldering, playing soccer, and cooking.
